Nikkor 18-70mm f:3,5-4,5G AF-S DX EF-ID This the D200 Nikon Kit series lens. It is one of the first of Nikon lens for digital, named DX format, and it cannot be used in an analog camera F100, F5 or F6 type, because the results could be disastrous, I mean, a quite strong vigneting would appear mainly in wider focals you would force us to crop more than 30 percent of the image. It is a serious lens and not a lens that we can consider cheaper series. We can qualify him as a standard zoom with high quality optical, being a 27-105mm in the 35mm analog format. It incorporates three ED glasses, what helps to elevate their resolution and contrast, plus an aspherical glass that to reduce aberrations it is well submitted to ghost and flare and it is better than the average for this kind of optics. It is more luminous than the competency, because in the 70mm maximum focal it maintains an f:4.5, while the other in the same focal offers us an f:5.6. Has 15 elements in 13 groups, with three ED and 1 Aspherical. Has a diaphragm of 7 petals with a minimum aperture of f:36, it weighs about 380 grams and a minimum focus only 0,38 meters, and its technical features are very well considered for this price. The sharpness is amazingly good and the autofocus, apart from very silent given the incorporation of a SWM (Silent Wave Motor) is really quick and accurate. Also has autofocus manual override feature. The distortion is the typical of these compressed opticals: the barrel prevails in the wider focals, and cushion distortion prevails in teles and it is more or less neutral in the middle. Something that you can correct peacefully in PS CS2. The
general quality is very good for its price. Well, the sigma 28-70
f:2 .8 cost more or less the same, but the general quality of Nikon
is higher, apart from having an angle 10mm wider and I would not worry
about the difference in brightness, it is not so much, only 0.7. As
an only lens for a digital Nikon as D50 or D70S, if does not come
with the Kit, it would be a recommended purchase. It won't defraud Some images:
