Nikon 18-70 DX AFS 3.5-4.5 G vs Sigma 18-125 f3.5-5.6.DC
(Full Image Test)

Nikon 18-70 DX AFS 3.5-4.5 G

Sigma 18-125mm F3.5-5.6 DC

To make the test I have used an ISO 12233 chart printed in a DIN A3 paper sheet by a Xerox  M24 laser color printer to its maximum resolution. The shot has been made with automatic shutter , trying to do  no movements with fingers and the metering was matrix and aperture priority. The camera was a Nikon D50 shooting NEF. The NEF files was opened up with Nikon Capture NX and then opened, as TIFF, to Photoshop CS2 and reduced for web, without retouch anymore. It has been compared the best thing and the worst in a lens: the center and the border to diverse focal and apertures.

Well, I believe you  can make our own conclusions peacefully. The price difference of one to another is of about 30 Euros (Nikon is more expensive), but the  Sigma has 52mm plus  more zoom. The decision is yours.
